Sustainable Silk Scarf 90 Angelo Musicante I

Every item in the We Wear Art collection is a marriage of sustainability, innovation and traditional craftsmanship completely Made in Italy. This project brings to life the immense breadth of Italian cultural expression and history in silk scarves certified GOTS. 

This design is the reproduction of a Mosaics present in the Facade of the Duomo of Orvieto, Italy. The mosaics on the facade of the Duomo depict episodes from the life of the Virgin Mary: her wedding, the presentation at the temple and the Annunciation. The zenith is reached in the scene of the Coronation, placed high in the central tympanum. This mosaic was completed in 1843, based on a drawing from 1300, and depicts the Virgin Mary and Christ sitting on a throne covered by a red cloth. At the bottom, on the sides of the throne, are four angel musicians, two on each side. Specifically, the mosaic of the Musician Angel depicts the angel playing the viola at the feet of Christ.
