This design is the reproduction of a Fresco present in the Nova Chapel in Orvieto, Italy. The Nova Chapel, or Chapel of San Brizio, located in the right transept of the Cathedral of Orvieto, was built between 1408 and 1444. The chapel is famous for its cycle of frescoes depicting the Last Judgment, started by Beato Angelico in 1447 and completed later by Luca Signorelli in 1499-1502. In the lower part of the Nova Chapel, the faces of scholars depicted by Luca Signorelli are portrayed, according to the humanistic iconography of the second half of the 15th century, embellished with grotesque characters, a new decorative genre of the time. The individual compartments decorated with theses grotesques recall the corami present in the rooms of 15th century houses, evoking at the same time, the cameos and the decorations of pages from ancient books.
